Please complete all of the handouts we had in class. If you lost one, I have scanned them and put them on here for you to print out or copy down at home.
Define the following terms for your vocabulary list:
Prime number, even number, odd number, composite number, factor, prime factorization, exponent, GCF, LCM, multiple, divisible, mixed numeral, improper fraction.
Please include lots of examples and/or diagrams with each definition. Please use your own words, to be sure that you really understand the words/concepts and are not just copying down a definition that you really don't understand.
You will file these in the Vocabulary section of your binder.
Week One's Homework consisted of 8 pages from the Advantage Math workbook. Pages 7.8,and 43,44,45,46,47, and 48 were photocopied and handed out in class. They were also scanned in and posted here for any students who misplaced copies.
Note that there is a typo on page 47 under divisibility rules. The divisibility rule for 6 should read "when a number is divisible by 2 AND 3." An astute student in 6c found that one and I will be sending a note to the publisher! Hooray for 6c!
This material covers factoring and multiples, as well as rules of divisibility, all critical for our work on fractions. It also covers prime numbers, which we will be talking about over and over!
